Brazil, this year’s guest of honour at Batimat 2011, is looking for foreign partnerships and skilled professionals for its surging construction industry, a representative of the country’s construction department has said.
Department of the Construction Industry (DECONCIC) deputy director Dilson Ferreira said that construction activity in the country is dense and the need for qualified specialists and labour, as well as the incorporation of new technologies, is significant.
"We are honoured to have received the invitation from Batimat as the government’s housing and infrastructure programme is a number one priority and those programmes need the construction industry for support," Ferreira said.
"We need this to feed the continuous growth and being here at the number one meeting place in the construction industry gives us the chance to talk to people who invest in construction, who have the technology and the necessary products," he continued.
In the course of the international construction fair in Paris the country entered into an agreement with the University of Sorbonne to bring foreign experts to the country.
With upcoming events such as the football World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016, investment in Brazil’s infrastructure is a priority.
