Being a television property presenter, Kristian Digby admits to feeling a sense of superiority when he set about building his own dream home but quickly came to realise that he had no idea of the levels of stress that the journey he was embarking upon would cause!

The brief he gave his architect, Ben Paul of Neu Architects, was 鈥榗hallenging鈥 鈥 a super modern detached 2 bedroom statement home in Stratford, East London that would be filled with natural light to create a spacious atmosphere.

The main obstacle to overcome in achieving this was the significant site constraints that would only permit the use of windows in certain positions which in turn restricted the amount of natural light that the property could actually tap into.

The solution was to incorporate rooflights into the design to harness the available light from the skies over East London and so Ben turned to Glazing Vision, the Suffolk based rooflight manufacturers whose expertise and experience enabled them to integrate innovative rooflight designs to enhance the aesthetic qualities of the new property whilst fulfilling the practical objective.

To fulfil Ben Paul鈥檚 architectural vision, Glazing Vision manufactured 2 sliding rooflights, of 955 x 1600mm and 1750mm x 2450mm respectively, and 2 Fixed Flushglaze rooflights of 4788mm x 1222mm and 1750mm x 800mm.

Commenting afterwards Ben said 鈥淭he rooflights have worked beautifully and have channelled significant amounts of light into areas that we simply couldn鈥檛 have otherwise鈥.

The Flushglaze range was specifically chosen for its鈥 innovative design that delivers maximum daylight, due to no internally visible framework, combined with high energy efficiency, and the sliding rooflights retract in one panel creating a 100% clear opening.

To capture the concept becoming a reality a film crew recorded the manufacture of Kristian鈥檚 rooflights and Kristian also managed a flying visit in between his BBC1鈥檚 show 鈥楾o Buy or Not to Buy鈥 filming commitments.

Further high tech additions such as remote control and automatic climatic control 鈥 which means they close automatically if it rains or snows – add a luxurious touch in addition to high-level safety devices which are fitted as standard.

Today, Kristian declares himself thrilled with his minimalist home, with its clean lines, acres of glass and abundance of natural light whilst the remote controlled rooflight above his bed allows him to participate in his very own Sky at Night and enjoy a gentle breeze as he slumbers.

All Glazing Vision units are designed, engineered and manufactured at the company鈥檚 own production plant in Suffolk, England and each is pre-assembled and tested prior to being shipped to any global destination.

Strong design skills, based on solid engineering and manufacturing principles, have ensured that Glazing Vision consistently develop products that satisfy the demand for minimal framework, concealed operating mechanisms and, crucially, no internally visible framework 鈥 all of which are prerequisites throughout the Glazing Vision product range. From this very committed operating base the company is able to maintain both the capability and capacity to expand their international profile whilst continuing to deliver unrivalled customer service to their domestic market.
